2017, New year at Baltimore Harbour. U. S

 U. S.  is twelve hours behind India and  we went to Baltimore Harbour to usher in the New Year. In spite of the freezing cold people were out there in large numbers doing ice skating and enjoying outdoor. The whole environment was  full of energy and life. A very happy New Year indeed and only pray to God that the New Year is peaceful, productive and prosperous for one and all.

Dog grooming saloon

Onb the last day of the month 30th December, 2016, Varun took his dog for a grooming session and there was a huge saloon for only pets where they give them a shampoo, a hair cut and cut their nails. The shop sold items related only to the pets. The pets here in the US  are a real pampered lot. They enjoy going to these saloons and once the dog came out it looked very prim and proper and smelt real good. I am not sure if there are any such saloons in Hyderabad for pets.

New World trade Centre

On 27th December, 2016, visited the new  World Trade Centre which is a new structure and  has been renamed as One world Observatory. It is an amazing experience and one connects with history and the resilience  of the human spirit for an equally great structure stands in the place of the earlier one. Looking at this amazing structure one gets a feeling of  victory over evil design.  Instead of the earlier two structures we have one structure of 103 floors and a beautiful sight  of New York from above. One World Trade Center officially opens in Manhattan on November 3, 2014. The new tower, along with the rest of the World Trade Center complex, replaced the Twin Towers and surrounding complex, which were destroyed by terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The construction of the new building is part of an effort to memorialize and rebuild following the destruction of the original World Trade Center complex. The work  of cleaning the debris took ten months and involved employees from dozens of City, State and federal agencies and the tireless efforts of responders, laborers, contractors, volunteers, and community organizations. In 2010, workers excavating the World Trade Center site discovered a 30-foot long section of the wooden vessel 20-30 feet below street level. A year later, they uncovered a three-foot section of the ship's bow. In October, about $200 million in gold and silver was recovered from under 4 World Trade Center, which was reduced to mostly rubble when the twin towers collapsed.

Christmas eve of 2016 at Times Square

Christmas eve was at Time Square in New York.  Spent the Christmas evening at Time Square. This is the centre of New York in Mid Manhattan at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue. There were thousands of people out in the streets. This is a bustling commercial centre with big hoardings and lots of lights.

Christmas in New York in 2016

A Merry Christmas  to every one and I for one want to  believe in the miracles of Christmas. I am in New York with my younger son and he is busy with his dog most of the time. There is snow at places in New York.

Time for Christmas

It is tht time of the year when Christmas spirit is all around. Christmas is in the air. It's really nice to be here in Odenton during Christmas time. I can hear a lot of Christmas Carols, something which I always associated with school.  Christmas songs of Jim Reeves can also be heard. I was treated to a movie  Star wars and a Thai dinner by Sankalp and  Varun.
