Second Foundation Course MCR HRD

Interacted with 180 IAS Officers in the second foundation course at the Chenna Reddy Institute MHRD in Hyderabad. These officers were from 2016,2017and 2018 batches, who had not completed their Foundation Course. They were from IAS, IPS, Forest Service, Postal services, Indian engineering services, Trade and Commerce, Postal Department, Railways and many more departments that I was not even aware of. Of these 180 only 18 were girls and this left me wondering why there were so few girls. I had a discussion on Meaning, Use and abuse of history. Many questions and a discussion followed. This course is very strenuous one and the candidates are in the play ground at 6.00 in the morning and the classess go on from 9.30 to 5.30 in the evening followed by many other activities. This course will end on 30 th May and the candidates are taught different subjects along with doing variety of activities including rock climbing, trekking and many more. This is the first time that all these officer's from different cadres interact with one another and develop a close bonding for in their area of work they need to coordinate with other officers too. I will take them through Indian history in a series of classes along with A. K. Goel ji who has retired from IAS  and who was the Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh.Currently he is the the advisor to the Telangana Government and is very much interested in History of science and technology. He wants our IAS officers to know our history for many of them come from science, engineering and medical backgrounds. It is nice to know that we get the best students selected for the IAS for they are very inquisitive and sharp and think of issues from different perspectives.I could sense this from the questions and discussion. I feel very happy at seeing this young generation and feel our country is in safe hands.
