Alluri Sita Ram Raju

I find  lot's of  statues of the revolutionary fighter Alluri Sita Ram Raju in and around Araku. Many do not know him outside South India but he organised the tribals and fought against the British during the Rampa Rebellion between 1922 to 1924, questioning the Forest laws of the British. There are many songs related to him  which are still very popular down south. He has had a lot of impact in this region and I find his statue in many places. I also saw a school named after him and so was a park. He died at the young age of twenty six when he was captured and shot by the British.  Indeed a great hero much revered in Araku and Andhra region.
